New Zealand 2025

These are the Instagram posts from my 2025 visit to the South Island of New Zealand, Te Waipounamu.

Planned are two three-day Great Walk hikes, kayaking, and fishing. (I'm a frequent hiker and an occasional kayaker, but haven't fished since boyhood.)

This will be my first time south of the equator, and my first time driving on the left-hand side of the road.

If you'd rather view these posts on Instagram—which might be a better experience if you’re an Instagram user—I am @emiliocaminando there.

I've also walked on Spain's Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) twice and those photos are also viewable here. Despite the singular name, the Camino is actually a network of walking paths, all ending at the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela, the purported resting place of the relics of the apostle James. In 2023 I walked on the Camino francés (French Way) and in 2024 I walked on the Camino del norte (Northern Way), Camino primitivo (Original Way), and Camino Finisterre (Finisterre Way).

Note: Many of the posts below contain more than one photo. These are indicated with a symbol in the upper-right corner. The easiest way to see the other photos in the post is to hover the mouse over the photo and then click on or near the < or > symbol.
